Tag Rugby - All You Need To Know!

Last Thursday evening saw a big crowd in Eldon's for the Tag Rugby launch. The Rugby Club were really surprised by the huge 32-team entry. However, they rolled up their sleeves and got the draw done and this was sent out by e-mail to all the teams on Monday last, 30 th May. Despite all the information handed out (please visit www.clonmelrfc.com) there are still questions flying at us. So, one more time:

•  the Tag Festival starts this evening, Thursday 2 nd June, at the rugby club

•  all teams are in groups A, B, C, D, E, F

•  each team plays the other teams in their group and all teams are guaranteed at least four games and perhaps six or seven games

•  the top team in each group, plus the two best runners-up will go into the quarter – finals

•  all the rest of the teams will go into a knock-out “plate” competition

•  group A will play their games on pitch A, group B on pitch B, etc

•  games will commence at 1830 hrs, 1925 hrs and 2020 hrs respectively. Refer to your group draw for times and please be present at least 10 minutes befor kick-off so that you get tag-belts fitted and there is no hold-up to a tight timetable. Please be on time.

•  changing-rooms and showers are provided for Ladies and Gentlemen

•  please ensure you return your tag-belt at the end of each game

•  Tag Rugby is thirsty work so the club bar will be open to revive you

•  if your team does not have its own strip, the bibs provided by the rugby club must be worn

•  all games will be supervised by trained referees – their decisions will be final

•  the Tag Rugby sub-committee will be present each night to iron out any snags

•  we have a barbecue for you further entertainment on Thursday 9th June

•  remember – no contact whatsoever is permitted

We are looking forward to meeting a big crowd every Thursday evening – remember, this is a social game and a chance to meet lots of new people. We will bring you results, tables and, hopefully, photographs on a weekly basis. See you this evening and every Thursday!
