Tag Rugby Finals - Thursday 7th July!

No spear tackles, no spin doctors – just more fun rugby. What must surely have been one of the most inclusive sports tournaments ever to take place in this area comes to a conclusion this Thursday evening when the Tag Rugby Festival finals are played at Clonmel Rugby Club.

Over the past five weeks over 400 people, some of whom have never played any sport, participated in a non-contact rugby festival, which, judging from the overall feedback, has been hugely enjoyable and very successful. The Rugby Club can take a bow for the preparation of this festival which looks primed to be even bigger and better next year.

This Thursday night will see the semi-finals and finals of both the Cup and Plate competitions, with the semi-finals starting at 6.30 p.m. and the finals at 8 p.m. We hope that all of the teams, whether still involved or not, will come up to see the finale. They could still be among the prizes as there are awards for “best player” (male and female), “best-dressed team”, “best team name”, etc

So everybody is welcome at the Rugby Club this Thursday night where we will finish off with (another!) barbecue and music. Thoughts are already turning to next year – an “oldies” section, an all-female category, an under-age competition – even an international event (no All-Blacks please!). You can take it that Tag Rugby is here to stay – see you all on this Thursday night!
